Moving Supplies
The Big How
There is an architectural anomaly in the mall that allowed us free passage to our apartment. Though it is not glamorous it was the path to our happiness.
For the most part it provided the utilitarian purpose of moving materials into the space if they were thinner than eleven inches. And it provided a private entranceway to our home.
The passage about two feet wide, and entirely cloaked in darkness. At some points it narrows to about eleven inches. The ceiling is of varying heights, and at one point the passage turns into a ledge as one of the walls to the side abruptly disappears; this reveals a gaping, cavernous, empty space. The walls and beams are sporadically coated with a sprayed-on concrete substance which feels like a cross between asphalt, tree bark and an itchy wool sweater. It looks like opaque grey oatmeal mixed with the contents of a lint trap.
There is just a glimmer of light from the outside, but for the most part the space is utterly dark. The space provided us with fresh air, light from the outside and most importantly, free-passage to our home.
